The essence of interior design will always be about people and how they live.
Meet Chetna
Chetna Baveja is an interior designer based in San Francisco, known for creating spaces that are refined, personal, and just a little unexpected. Before founding her namesake studio, she co-led Blue Lamp Interiors for over a decade—managing everything from quick refreshes to full-scale home transformations. And in a past life? She was an aesthetic dentist with a meticulous eye and a soft spot for symmetry.
Her process is rooted in listening, layered with curiosity, and never afraid of a twist—whether it’s a bold piece of art or a reimagined heirloom. Clients love her warm, fun, and collaborative approach, and they love her ability to blend classic design with a bit of edge. Her secret weapon? An obsession with chairs, textures, and unexpected color pairings. And the ability to be inspired by Indian and Western styles.
She lives in San Francisco with her husband, two kids and two dogs, James & Hobbes. She loves traveling, reading, swimming, classic rock, and 90’s rap music. These days, she is also trying her hand at pickleball and mahjong.
Chetna Q&A
-
Matching everything too perfectly. A little tension—whether it’s texture, tone, or scale—makes a room more interesting.
-
Doors, chairs, layered tilework, and museum walls. Also… my dogs, food, and occasionally a beautiful mess.
-
Probably making travel plans I may or may not take, catching up on design trends, and taking a long walk with my dogs—bonus points if we end up at a gallery or somewhere with good light and great chairs.
